Gideon Sundback modified the design of clasp locker-fastener and invented the modern zipper, which was more marketable. He is not well-known, so we wish to let more people know more about him.

There are two main types of zippers that we are introducing, metals and plastic zippers.Metal Zippers
1)Teeth formed from a metal wire either flat or profiled and made from metals like brass, aluminium, nickel or white brass(nickel free)
2)Teeth die-cast directly onto the tape with zinc metalThere is a variety of finishes for metal zippers like golden brass, antique brass, antique silver, gunmetal, silver etc
Plastic Zippers
1)LFC or L-type zippers made with meander/Ruhrmann type coil, stiched around the edge of the carrier tape.
2)CFC zippers made with spiral coil stitched on one side of the carrier tape.
3)Woven-in coil zippers, in which the coil is formed and directly woven into the carrier tape on special looms.
4)Plastic moudled zippers, made from polyacetal(Delrin).
5)Plastic extruded zippers, in which a string of teeth/elements is first extruded and then stitched onto the carrier tape.
Specialty Zippers
Invisible zippers: CFC zippers that do not require a provision of a fly, since they are made and stitched in such a manner that only hairline searn is visible from outside. These are predominantly used in ladies wear. Two ways zippers: Zippers made in larger sizes in CFC, plastic moudled and metal. The major applications are outerwear and luggage.Open End zippers: A zipper that is able to be detached completely, used usually in jackets and outerwear.

The term "handbag" first came into use in the early 1900's and generally referred to hand-held luggage bags usually carried by men. These were an inspiration for new bags that became popularized for women, including handbags with complicated fasteners, internal compartments, and locks. With this new fashion, jewelers got into the act with special compartments for opera glasses, cosmetics, and fans.
The 1920's saw a revolution in fashion with varying hemlines and lighter clothing. Bags no longer needed to match the outfit perfectly and the rage was for the stylish lady to carry a doll dressed exactly like herself, complete with matching bag for her minature companion!
The 1940's saw new austerity in clothing, including handbags with the war effort in mind. Metal frames, zips, leather, and mirrors were in short supply so manufacters used plastic and wood. The 50's saw the rise of important designer houses including Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and Hermes and the 60's saw the breakdown of old notions of the classical and the rise of youth culture.

From the clothing you wear, the furniture you own, the car you drive, the luggage you carry, and the sports equipment you use, and more, YKK zippers are there.
In 1960, YKK first entered the United States zipper market as a small sales and assembly operation. Originating in New York's garment district to be near our customers, YKK (U.S.A.) Inc. is now this country's number one supplier of zippers. In Macon, Georgia, in state-of-the-art plants we produce millions of YKK zippers per day in thousands of styles and colors. Does it really take so many plants to make a zipper? Yes, if it's a YKK zipper. Our unique manufacturing process is vertically integrated. Starting with the Brass Wire Plant, where our own brass is produced from high grade copper and zinc in a ratio perfect for zippers, we make zipper teeth (elements) and sliders.
If you need them, YKK also produces attaching machines. And, we partner with customers to ensure you're getting genuine YKK zippers.

Both flat and stand-up pouches are expected to show healthy gains through 2008, according to a report by The Freedonia Group Inc. Features such as spouts, zippers and retort processing will drive the growth of all pouch varieties. Stand-up pouches will experience robust gains thanks to their increased versatility and relative novelty at retail. Flat pouches will remain dominant through 2008, with demand climbing at about 5% a year. Stand-up pouches will gain in snacks, cheese and other foods, while flat pouches will be used increasingly for foods like cheese, pudding and yogurt.
